Food Bank Network NOTE OF THANKS
We offer our sincere thanks and appreciation to everyone who supported our Christmas
in June Food Drive. Your much needed assistance will enable Holy Redeemer and
Salvation Army Food Bank Outlets to help needy families during the summer months. We had a
very successful drive; an increase in food donations (over a $35,000 value), an increase
in financial contributions, and another great response to CBCs chicken drive! This
happened because of your support. Thank you again for Sharing your Blessing.
Help Needed
We need able and willing volunteers to help with the maintenance of our Church lawns
this summer. Please contact John Brake (634 - 1504) if you are able to give him a hand.
Many hands make light work!
Alpha
Our joint Anglican city-wide Alpha Course will begin on Thursday, September 18 at 6:00
pm and will run until December 4th, 2008 at All Saints Church, Clarence Street.
The opening session consists of a free celebration dinner followed by the showing of a
video featuring renowned Anglican speaker Rev. Nicky Gumbel. Those attending the opening
session will find out what the Alpha Course is all about and, if they decide to take the
course, they can register there and then. Alpha, which has been held in thousands of
Churches around the world, is a 10 week practical introduction to the Christian faith
offering answers to some big questions. Each weekly session begins with an informal
dinner, followed by a large group learning video and ends with small group discussion and
interaction. To reserve your place at the Alpha Celebration Dinner, call the All Saints
Church Office at 634-6963 or email allsaintschurch@nf.aibn.com. If you have already
completed the course and are interested in being part of the leadership team, call Anne
Keating at 785-2980 or email alphacornerbrook@yahoo.ca by August 1st,
2008.

Our next celebration of Holy Baptism will be on August 3rd 2008. The

mid-morning snacks will be served, all at no cost to the participants. Applications are

Prayer
List for the Sick
In an effort to keep our sick list as accurate, accessible, meaningful, and current as
possible, we are placing a list in the porch that you may use to add names. This list
will be replaced on the first Sunday of each month, and it will be necessary to add again
any names that you wish to be refreshed on a regular basis. To respect the privacy of
people, please ensure that you have permission before adding names to the list.
Special List
Do you know of anyone who will be celebrating either their 80th birthday (or
more) or their 50th wedding anniversary (or more)? Please let Shirley Sutton
(634-1070) know so that we can all share in extending them extra special greetings!
Ink Jet Cartridge Recycling
We are now a registered drop center for the thINK Food program to help raise funds for
our Food bank Network. Used ink cartridges can be recycled to purchase food for need
families. An inkjet cartridge can be worth a jar of peanut butter, a carton of milk or
even a whole meal! Please deposit your used cartridges from ink jet printers only in the
box in the porch.
Prayer Chain
We now have a Prayer Chain for emergency prayer requests. If you
have a prayer emergency, please call one of the members of the chain - Rev. Gordon
(632-5688), Donna Druggett (634-0172), Darrell Pike (632-2686), Marjorie Pike (632-2686),
Sarah Skinner (639-1461), Enid Pevie (632-5418), Lloyd Sheppard (639-1447), Cynthia
Parsons (634-1498), Terri Parrill (634-6714), Patti George (639-1511), Maureen Clarke
(632-5726). Anyone willing to be apart of the chain is invited to contact Rev. Gordon.
Sleeping Children Around the World
This is the 2nd year for this initiative. With a $30 donation a bed kit will
be purchased for a child in an impoverished nation. This will provide a child with a few
hours of comfort each day where they could forget about the turmoil they face. Even though
we have a Christmas focus, this is truly a year-round event. Celebrate special occasions
with a donation for a bed kit. Special envelopes are available.
Primates World Relief & Development Fund
We encourage parishioners to continue giving to this great ministry of our
Church. PWRDF works for social justice and global change through community development and
emergency assistance. Many regularly support this ministry through the blue envelopes in
their package. Special envelopes are also available.
